Predator-Prey Relationships
Another type of interaction between organisms in an ecosystem is the predator-prey relationship. This is when a comsumer hunts, kiills, and eats another animal for food and sustenance. These encounters are violent and end up with death for on of the organisms. The organism that hunts and kills the other is called the predator. The animal that is being killed is called the prey. This relationship is important for food and population control in a biome. In grasslands, their are many examples of predator-prey relationships.
- Cheetah chasing gazelle for food
- Owl catching mice for young
- Lion attacking wildebeest
